UAAP Season 70
What are our chances against UST in winning the UAAP General Championship this year? What do we need to do to gain that overall championship? As for men's basketball, feel free to post your analysis/ideas/observations on the games we've played and are about to play. Suffice it to say, I think the competition for this UAAP event is as balanced as it's ever been in recent years, with no clear favorite. (Make no mistake about it: the UP Maroons, despite their loss against us, have a solid line-up that's just waiting to peak.)

DLSU's Chances of Winning the UAAP General Championship???
Being a newbie staffer of TLS Sports, I really am impressed with the determination of our athletes to grab this year's General Championship. I believe that the reason why we haven't won any UAAP General Championship yet because the exposure of other UAAP sports are really that limited. I mean, look at our school. I see so many gifted athletes that really wants to join our teams but it seems that the management or the OSD for that matter, secludes the try-outs for aspiring athletes. I've been browsing some sites and I was wondering if the UAAP's still implementing the Automatic Championship wherein if we go 14-0 this season, we are Automatic Champions. If that's the case, I think we'll score one championship in Men's basketball

Definitely no GChampionship! It's too much drama! I haven't read the article about "y" but it's a no-no really. It will also show that balance is something the UAAP won't be able to grasp. There's no one to blame really. Athletes are practical and so are the universities. They want the best, they grab the best; simple as it is, only the environment makes it complicated.

Men's Basketball
14-0 eh! Now this is the most anticipated drama of this season's basketball. "a year suspension, comes a sweep" FEU and UE are the only team quite capable of beating DLSU. And they have a very good chance of doing so. FEU with its 10-"rookie-veteran" lineup has the capability to guard DLSU's TANG-CASIO-MAEIRHOPER with its tall and athletic build. The tamarraws may have problem matching the guards of the G&Ws. So they have to utilize their height advantage to control the explosiveness of Rico Maierhoper down below. Tang, Casio, and Maierhoper are the "main" disadvantage of almost all DLSU opponents. With Tang and Casio's experience only Marcy Arellano of U.E. may be able to keep pace with the duo. Moreover, the solid front-court of the archers can only be match by UE as well; with Espiritu, Borboran, Gregorio, and MArk Fampulme. To complete the match-up, the Pumaren brothers. woooooo! "In my opinion" this is the only match up worth the championships. oh yeah, the Red warriors will lack bench power or rather supporting cast against of DLSU's(Villanueva,Mangahas,Malabes,WAlsham,andothers) so their starters should really carry the load. vs ateneo is only for the RIVALRY and sales. They have too young players with the likes of baracoso* if i'm not mistaken. the front court should lead the eagles vs ARCHERS. ASORO of NU will lack support not as much as the past season but it will still hit him hard. UST-no comment UP-Woody is not dominating at all Adu -old and lonely superstar in the face of Cabahug. in my opinion

in my opinion...
with the inadequate funding and support, unequal distribution of support to all the varsity teams, the serious lack of coaches and trainings for us athletes--- we are definitely far from getting an overall championship... but i guess with the new osd system especially br. bernie around, we are one step ahead of winning... god bless la salle... :wink:

Actually, we should look forward to the 2nd round. I mean, DLSU stands at 2nd place behind the undefeated UE Red Warriors. Now, if Ateneo loses to UST, we'll be at solo 2nd. Now, we should try to learn from our losses. How to stop UE? Let our own bench score. How to beat Ateneo? Try and stop their outside scoring. We are a great offensive team despite being known as a defense-oriented team. We can be at 1st place if possible. :D
